Frequently asked questions
Only in your browser. Your recipes, weekly plan, pantry and settings are stored locally with Chrome's storage and are never uploaded. You can export a JSON backup or erase everything from Settings.
No. Forkcast has no sign-in and no account. Install it and start planning.
Just storage (to save your recipes, plan, pantry and settings on your device) and a single host permission for factory-chrome-extensions.vercel.app — used only to fetch a small display-config that decides whether the optional Support / Go Pro buttons appear. No recipe-site access, no content scripts, no tracking.
Forkcast reads every meal in your plan, groups identical ingredients, and adds up their amounts — converting compatible units (cups, ml, grams, etc.) and keeping incompatible ones separate. It scales each recipe by its planned servings, removes anything you've marked as a pantry staple, and groups the result by store aisle in the order you choose.
Forkcast doesn't read other websites (by design — that keeps it private and permission-light). Instead, copy a recipe's ingredient list and paste it into the recipe editor: Forkcast parses each line into quantity, unit and name. To move data between computers, use Export / Import backup in Settings.
