No. Inknest works the moment you install it, with no sign-up, login or cloud service.
No — it's a soft lock. It hides your journal behind a code on this device so someone glancing at your screen can't read it, but your entries are still stored unencrypted in your browser profile. For real at-rest protection, use your operating system's disk encryption and account password.
storage keeps your journal and settings on your device; sidePanel shows the daily check-in companion; alarms and notifications power the optional daily reminder; commands registers optional keyboard shortcuts. The single host permission (factory-chrome-extensions.vercel.app) is used only to fetch the Support-button display-config and sends no personal data.
Every entry is stored with its date and mood. The Year in Pixels paints each day with that day's mood, and the Insights tab turns your history into a mood distribution, weekday averages, day-streaks, and a read on which activities tend to lift or lower your mood — all computed locally.
